On the outskirts of Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania lies the Mohegan Sun Pocono, previously titled Pocono Downs or the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. As the name suggests, this complex is under the umbrella of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, although, it is directly owned by Downs Racing LP. This racino features a kilometer long harness racetrack in addition to a wider range of slots and table games. This was one of the first casinos in Pennsylvania to obtain table games once they were legalized in 2010. In 2013, Mohegan opened an adjacent hotel structure that is connected directly to the casino floor.
The hotel facility has a wide range of room types: Standard King, Standard Double Queen, King Suite, Queen Bay Suite, and King Bay Suite. Though they offer different sizes and bed types, they are all fairly spacious and well-furnished. The rooms feature modern comforts like smart TVs and in-room tablets (for ordering room service, etc.). They also have working desk areas and stone bathrooms with the highest level of elegance. The hotel has a spa, the 4,000 square foot Spa Sapphire, featuring "5-star service with extraordinary ambiance." Massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, hair, makeup, you name it, they can do it. The hotel also features a 20,000 square foot flexible meeting space. World class accommodations for any event, they say. This space can fit up to 1,600 guests and is suitable for business meetings, weddings, and more.
The Mohegan Sun has more than fifteen dining options. From quick bites like Wetzel's Pretzels to economical offerings like the Timber's Buffet. They even have high-end dining like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and the Pearl Sushi Bar. For those with a sweet tooth, the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream is there to satisfy. You can get drinks at one of the many bars, including Bar Louie (winner of a Concept Of Tomorrow Award) and Breakers, a high-energy bar scene with a lengthy happy hour and live local bands. That's not the only live entertainment on offer, though. Guests can head to Wise Crackers Comedy Club to get their laughs or experience the thrill of the 16,000 square foot Keystone Grand Ballroom in the convention center to see headlining musical acts.
As mentioned, live harness racing is a big part of the Mohegan, allowing patrons to place wagers on the horses of their choice. They've integrated plenty of technology into their system, incorporating off-track wagering, iBettinge, and simulcast to give racing fans the most options possible. There are also plenty of slots at the Mohegan. To be more specific, more than 2,300 slot machines from penny slots up to $100 spins. Wheel Of Fortune, Monopoly, and Hot Shot Progressives are continual favorites. There's video poker, along with an array of table games. These include Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, and several Poker options. The Poker Room has 18 tables, several flatscreen TVs, and an in-room bar.
Adding to the excitement are the casino bonuses. The Mohegan casino bonus and reward program gives players access to some very impressive casino promotion codes and casino coupons to enhance the overall experience and provide something extra for loyal patrons.
